It doesn’t do well. The Plasmodium parasite lives and reproduces inside the red blood cell where the immune system can’t get at it. When the red blood cell is filled with the parasite, it ruptures. Then the immune system can attack it. but the parasite rapidly invades other red blood cells and so is hidden from attack once again.
