Malaria Treatment FAQ:
I went on a mission trip last June to Nicaragua and got all of my shots and malaria medicine. Now, I am returning this October and wonder if I need to get malaria pills again. I know that my shots are all still up to date. Help!!

I believe you have to take tablets for approx. 4 weeks before entering a malaria zone and a week or so after returning. Check the drug you took to see how long you need to take it after you return to your native country.
It depends on what particular anti malaria tablet you were given. Some tablet you start taking 2 days before leaving for the trip and others at least 2 weeks before you leave. You have to continue taking the the medicine during the trip. On your return, you should continue to take the medicine for another 2 or 4 weeks.
