You are talking about two different things here.

Plasmodium, the causative agent of Malaria, uses the anopheles (mosquito) as a vector to spread itself among its host population.

Sickle Cell is a genetic trait that is immediately present if the offspring receives the genes for the disease to exist. (Inherits two recessive genes for the disease)
