Depends a bit on where you live, but in the UK you can very often get very good advice from your local independent pharmacy (chemists) I say, independent, as the main chains do not seem to have people who are always up to speed on their Malarias.
According to the WHO there is no malaria in the coastal regions off Vietnam. As a traveler you will not stray far from the coast,if you do you may want to buy some spray with a high DEET content,[80 to a 100%].I have lived here in the beautiful coastal resort of Nha Trang,i use nothing,so come to VN,have a great time and dont worry about malaria.
Go to a Doctor where you live and ask for a prescription before you go to Vietnam. Staying away from mosquito’s is good too. Putting on Deet is helpful too. I always go to my doctor and get a prescription before we go back and visit. There are to many things to tell to list here for travel in Vietnam. Go to Yahoo or Google and ask your questions, I am sure yoiu will find the answers there. Vietnam is a great place to visit. Enjoy you time there. cheers.

put a cork in it..no more malaria..
Go to the doctor and ask for anti-malaria prescription. I believe it’s called chloroquin.
I believe there are vaccinations that you can have. You physician, or the health department, should have a list of recommended vaccinations.

wash your hands well. Be careful, they still have many sicknesses there. Bring along wipes.
