look it up. unlike another answer here, mosquitoes do not directly cause humans to become anemic. it is the malaria.

The malaria parasite lives in the red blood cells and keeps the cells from functioning properly. You know, like transferring oxygen, etc.

The toxins that are present in the body due to the malaria parasite (you can learn more about the exact way in which malaria infects a human at) cause what is known as hemolytic anemia. The hemo- refers to the heme component of a red blood cell and the -lytic means “breakdown”. So, this type of anemia is caused by abnormal breakdown of red blood cells. Red blood cells are responsible for carrying oxygen around your body–a smaller number of red blood cells (because they are destroyed by the malarial toxins) means that less oxygen is able to travel through your bloodstream. This is a classical hallmark of anemia.
