I am really afraid that i will get malaria and die from getting bitten by a mosquito. I am also kind of afraid of getting west nile. I live in Southern California and the mosquitos are out and about.

theres is a 13.7% chance that you will get malaria. 19.2% chance for west nile. wear long sleeves and take baths in off!
I’ve lived here my whole life and haven’t gotten either. I also go camping where it’s mosquito central and had over 20 bites, still no sign of either. Don’t stress about it.
Get a mosquito net.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the reason that people think Malaria and West Nile are so lethal is because they’re referring to Africa, where Malaria is more common and it isn’t as easy to get access to medications that will treat the two diseases. There’s nothing to worry about. This is similar to the flu, the media blows it out of proportion (the swine flu) and scares everyone. No worries.
